I reckon what the Seagraves revealed
in the book will point to a far greater issue: The Yamashita
Treasures were but a hidden facet of the secret pact
between the vanquished and the victor at the end of
the Japanese occupation of South-East Asia.
It says the Japanese had systematically stripped bare
12 Asian countries - including Singapore, Malaya, China,
Korea and the Philippines - and plundered them of valuables
accumulated over thousands of years, which came in the
form of gold, gems, rare art and precious metals. |
